Surfing. A sport known for progressively classic imagery. The Surfrider Foundation did not do anything to further that, based on their latest rebranding. This new logo is on the same plain as the previous. Elementary. Read about it.

A Font's A Font

Came upon some serious font sites today. Thank you FreelanceSwitch. Font selection is often overlooked. But it cannot be. It could take days, weeks or months for a group of "savy" designers to come up with "the perfect font". Thank you Julian Hansen, you may have helped cut that time down to minutes. Check it.

Joaquin Phoenix scraps his acting career and shoots for the stars again as a hip hop artist. This is the story of Casey Affleck's documentary, "Im Still Here". Gotta see this one. Shepard Fairey is backing it as well with some street art. Good stuff.

Narragansett Beer is making a resurgence that may seem to match the path of Pabst Blue Ribbon. The brand that Narragansett has established has a more polished & retro look that is quite appealing. Especially to those in the 21-35 year old demographic. Having spent a few years in the great state of Rhode Island, the home of Narragansett, I'm fully backing this company. Get on their site. Support the cause. Ask for it in your bar and every bar. They are trying to keep the brewery in New England, but they need our help.

Cross culture references over the past century. Each poster is radically unexpected and most definitely needs an explanation. You got to see them all.

Highlight: Mail Goggles

Not that any of you dear readers need this feature, but just in case … Gmail labs has a feature that could prevent you from firing off a late-night email to your entire company–or to an ex. It’s called Mail Goggles. Once enabled, Mail Goggles will ask you to complete a few simple math problems to prove your sobriety before you send each message. The math equations are timed, and Mail Goggles’ default is set to turn on late at night (the assumption being that users are more likely to EUI or email under the influence then). You can change the time window to anything you want.

A New Age For Old MapQuest

Who uses MapQuest anymore? Not me. Since Google has entered my life, MapQuest has been tossed aside like a week old toy. Well, maybe this rebranding will help them get their niche back? Or not? Here's what they have to say about it.

30 Years Of Waiting

The culmination of all of my 30 years brought me to this place. Over the past 6 days, I've said this about a hundred times, "I must have done something right to be right here, right now." Not to get sentimental, but it was a trip inspire and relax. Book a flight. Take a sketchy van ride. Eat a lot of jerk and the most amazing calamari that I have ever had.
Side note about the image: After sitting here and watching dolphins swim across the sea, Erin watched me jump off this 30' cliff into the crystal blue water. Amazing.

Warriors Of The Bay

The Lakers won and another California franchise has lost.
Im not advocating the previous Golden State Warriors logo, but this new logo is quite elementary. The attempt to capitalize on the whole "throwback" jersey phenomenon is simply a bad way to lead a team. Merchandise my sell, but Im not sure about tickets. Here are some more opinions and looks at the secondary logos.
